Do you soak nuts, seeds and legumes prior to consumption?
Ensuring that you do not fill your body with toxins can be daunting at first. Making one change every week will make it easier to get to grips with. Just think, by the end of a year, you would have made 52 changes! That is huge!
Nuts contain Phytic Acid which can also be found in grains, legumes and seeds. If we do not soak these before consumption, the phytic acid sticks to minerals in the gastrointestinal tract and as a result, the minerals cannot be absorbed. You may be taking supplements or have a great intake of veg, however, if you consume this acid, you will be over writing the good.
When soaking, it is advised that you use filtered water as tap water has its own chemicals. It is also worth noting that dates and dried fruit should be soaked before use to bring them ‘back to life’. Soaking from 6 to 8 hours, over night is easiest for me and then drain and use as you wish.
The photo shows what comes off in the mineral water after 8 hours of soaking. I then moved them onto an oven tray and left to dry out for 4 hours on low in the oven. A dehydrator will also achieve the same results.
